Dental Care:

Good dental care for your cat can be a key component to your cat’s well being.  A dirty mouth can not only be uncomfortable, and lead to infection it can also promote diseases in your cat’s body such as heart, liver and kidney disease.  When your cat is young is the best time to start home dental care – our Technicians will discuss dental care with you upon your cat’s routine exam, explaining the many options for home dental care and providing you a demonstration if needed.  Our Veterinarians perform full mouth exams on your cat(s) at every physical exam and will discuss with you when your cat is in need of a dental cleaning.  In most cases cats will need dental cleaning performed once to twice a year usually starting at 3 or 4 years of age.  Dental cleanings are performed under general anesthesia.  Diagnostics are done prior, intravenous fluid therapy, and surgical monitoring are used during and post cleaning to ensure the safety of your cat during the procedure; through to recovery.  A cat receiving a dental cleaning at Catzablanca will be hospitalized to give full benefits of the intravenous fluid therapy, and ensure proper recovery before going home.

If you notice your cat’s breath keeps you from cuddling close or you have noticed that some of their eating habits have changed, this may be an indication that they need a dental exam.

As with our own dental care, annual cleanings ,(to remove bacteria that cause infection) can help prevent painful gum disease, tooth loss, heart disease and kidney disease.
To keep your feline friend healthy and happy we recommend annual dental exams.
