Larry’s Blog is Back!!!

Good day Feline friends and 2 legged companions!  I hope this finds you and your loved ones well.

I felt it a good time to reappear and do a little blogging during these difficult times.

What with all of us being confined and isolated I wanted to gather a bit of info on how my compatriots and their peeps are coping.  Needless to say, we could all use some ideas on how to alleviate anxiety, stress and certainly, boredom. So, I am going to share what I have so far.  Feel free to send in your own suggestions and ideas for what has been working for you.  Oh, and that means you also, humans.  Though cats are much better at this sort of thing, ideas are welcome from you people folks too!

Allistar Boo writes from Coventry, Ct that he has taken a renewed interest in bird watching.  He says that the male Goldfinch population, visible from the bay window in the greatroom, has almost completely morphed from drab green to stunning gold and black.  A sure sign of Spring Allistar!  That is awesome.  He finds that watching these small bright birds at the feeder provides hours of entertainment on any given afternoon.  He also writes, that from the front window in the kitchen he can watch the Bluebirds nest building in the Bluebird house.  Also, uber entertaining!   Especially since it makes his Mom happy to think there will be more baby Bluebirds this year! Another sign of Spring, visible from this same window is the sighting of the first Robin!  A very large and rather succulent looking guy, he writes!  Easy there Allistar mind your manners!   Lastly, I understand that Mr. Boo was witness to the Spring mating of the resident Red Shouldered Hawk pair.   A bit of a “peep” show (pun intended) and fortunately from the safety of the house.  Fearsome looking couple, really.

Junior Bitzel, also from Coventry, writes that he has taken up Interior Design as his new hobby.  He writes that there is endless potential in rearranging small pieces of furniture, knick knacks and of course throw rugs.  He finds this not only creatively stimulating but a good physical workout as well.  There are infinite design possibilities and hours can be spent working these out.  It is also huge fun when the humans get involved, though he finds that their creative abilities are not as varied.. For some reason they keep returning things to the same spots.  Alas, another thing that they could learn from us, right Junior?

From the horsey set in Cromwell, Pick Pocket Rocket writes that he is alleviating the excruciating boredom of stall rest during his recovery, with practical jokes {(biting his Mom’s toes while she lasers his) seriously man?!}, massive amounts of herbal treats, and keeping the barn staff running for medication and tasty tidbits to eat keeps him busy for most of the day.

Ned, Nedward, Neddi Pot, Pot Sticker, finds that a good Jolly ball, a Himalayan salt lick and some outdoor play time is just what is needed to alleviate anxiety.

Miss Lady Cakes finds that mugging for Peppermint treats, a good groom and a 20 minute walk help tremendously to keep a gal feeling good about herself during times of stress.

Well, these are all super helpful, I think.

Here at Catzablanca the feline staff is still busy caring for patients and keeping our peeps sane.  Lots of good purrs and diversionary tactics of cuteness are still the norm here.

Riley is ignoring social distancing which is OK JUST FOR CATS THOUGH RILEY!! He is still meeting and greeting and ready for a good purr session.

Sam is still doing his job patrolling the hallways looking for spare foodstuffs which may need to be cleaned up.  Including my leftovers I might add!  Harumph!!

Don Quixote has taken to flipping his ear back ( yes that is correct, flipping his ear back) but more importantly says  that he finds it comforting to look upon those things he is grateful for in order to keep  going.

Firstly, he is super grateful to have given up his feral lifestyle and is thankful for his 3 squares as well as his home here.  Good job Don, it’s certainly good to have you as part of the team!

Here’s some more stuff he is grateful for:

-Thank you, to the doctors, nurses and medical support staff out there working tirelessly to get us all through this in the best way they know how.

-Thank you, to the truckers and their support teams putting themselves at risk to deliver needed goods to us all.

-Thank you to the police, fire fighters and first responders for continuing to do their very needed jobs during this time.

-Thank you to the grocers and pharmacy workers who are out there continuing to provide us with food and medication.

-Thank you to the veterinarians, animal care workers and their support staff who continue to keep our very precious animal friends healthy so that they can continue to help keep us sane.

-Thank you to the food service industry who continue to operate in their limited capacity to feed those of us who don’t always have time and energy to make our own lunches and dinners.

-Thank you to the automotive repair folks who continue to work on our cars so that those of us who need to travel can still get to where we need to go.

So, help us out here, send some more stuff that you are grateful for and some tips for your quarantine sanity!

Cute pictures are also very welcome😊

Til next time,

Larry
